Project Overview

CFruit is a Cape Town–based producer of frozen fruit committed to sustainable farming and supporting local communities through responsible production and employment. The objective was to create packaging that reflected these values while giving the brand a distinctive and contemporary presence in an increasingly competitive frozen food category.

The challenge was to communicate freshness despite the product being frozen, creating packaging that felt natural, vibrant, and instantly recognizable.

Inspiration & Concept

The concept was inspired by the idea that frozen fruit should still feel alive.

Rather than emphasizing frost or icy textures, the design celebrates the fruit itself through generous photography, expressive hand-lettered typography, and a bright white background that reinforces purity, freshness, and simplicity. The restrained composition allows the fruit to become the hero while the colorful typography gives each variety its own distinctive personality.

The result is packaging that communicates freshness before the customer even reads the label.

Design Solution

The packaging combines bold fruit photography with playful typography and a minimalist layout to create a highly recognizable product family.

The clean white background provides strong contrast for the vivid fruit imagery, while consistent branding elements unite the blueberry and mixed berry varieties into a cohesive visual system. The resealable pouch format adds everyday practicality, reinforcing the brand’s focus on quality and convenience.

The final design demonstrates how restraint, color, and product-focused storytelling can transform frozen food packaging into an inviting and memorable retail experience.
