Packaging design for RAW Hemp Extract, created to challenge conventional CBD packaging through a calmer, more atmospheric visual language. Inspired by the stillness of an early morning landscape, the design replaces the category’s familiar green aesthetic with warm earthy tones, creating a premium identity that communicates balance, nature, and quiet confidence.
Project Overview
RAW Hemp Extract entered a highly competitive market where many CBD products rely on similar visual conventions dominated by green color palettes and botanical imagery.
The objective was to create a distinctive identity that communicated the product’s calming qualities without relying on familiar category clichés. By embracing the natural warmth of the amber bottle and focusing on atmosphere rather than symbolism, the packaging establishes a more refined and memorable presence on the shelf.
Inspiration & Concept
The concept was inspired by the quiet moments just after sunrise.
Soft morning light, distant landscapes, and muted earthy tones create a feeling of calm before the day begins—a visual metaphor for the product’s intended experience. Instead of illustrating hemp leaves directly, the design communicates nature through atmosphere, while a subtle geometric pattern introduces rhythm and balance without overwhelming the composition.
The result is a packaging concept that feels timeless, premium, and emotionally engaging.
Design Solution
The identity combines landscape photography, restrained typography, and a carefully balanced color palette that works in harmony with the amber glass bottle.
Minimal typography allows the imagery to remain the focal point, while the geometric pattern adds depth and visual structure across both the label and secondary packaging. Together, these elements create a calm, cohesive identity that stands apart within the CBD category while remaining flexible enough to support future product extensions.
The final design demonstrates how atmosphere can become a more powerful differentiator than category conventions.
The concept attracted significant interest within the hemp industry, with several companies approaching the original client in the hope of licensing or adapting the visual direction for their own products.
